Big & Rich released their new album Gravity this week, but one song sounds very familiar...let's say from the 80's? You be the judge...

On Tuesday, Big Kenny Alphin & John Rich released Gravity, celebrating 10 years of their unique and at times irreverant hi-low harmonizing sound. I'm excited to hear new stuff from the Muzik Mafia, as I'm a big fan of the album Horse of a Different Color. Track #2 titled "Lovin' Lately" features a sing-along with co-songwriter Tim McGraw, who just released his new music on September 16th- and has this week's top-selling country album with Sundown Heaven Town.

Bruce Hornsby is almost an American Music icon- not as well known as fellow piano-men Billy Joel or Jerry Lee Lewis, but we all know his thought-provoking hit "The Way It Is." The other song that helped Bruce Hornsby and the Range win the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1987 was the memorable "Madolin Rain." It climbed to #4 on the Pop charts in March of '87 and even reached #38 on the Top 40 Country chart that year!

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (I'm not quite sure who "they" are), but these two hooks sound very similar. I don't consider it a true sample of Hornsby's group, but "Lovin' Lately" seems pretty influenced by Brucey if you ask me. Hit the play button below and take a listen for yourself...

We all like 80's music, so here's the full video MTV used for "Mandolin Rain." Rock that ponytail, Bruce! :D
