Dangerous Wind Chills Predicted Tuesday Through Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning in effect from Tuesday at 6 a.m. until Thursday at noon. Wind chill warnings happen when temperatures drop to at least 18 degrees below zero.

Dangerous wind chills as low as 60 below zero are expected Tuesday morning through Thursday throughout western and central Minnesota.

St. Cloud is expected to see temperatures drop as low as 58 below zero by 3 a.m. Wednesday morning. The Alexandria area can expect temperatures to drop to 64 below zero by early Wednesday morning.

Remember that the dangerously cold wind chills could cause severe frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. Signs of frostbite include loss of feeling and pale fingers, toes and earlobes. If you think you might have frostbite seek medical attention immediately.

If you do travel during this time you're urged to pack an extra flashlight, food and water in case of emergency. Always wear a hat and gloves and pack extra clothes and blankets in your vehicle.
