Each Wednesday at 8 a.m. I join Cindy and Doug for Country Classic Flashback.  We take a trip down memory lane to highlight a country legend.  This week we are featuring Kenny Rogers.

He was born Kenneth Rogers on August 21, 1938 in Houston, Texas.  Kenny entered country music with a broad background in a variety of music styles and a very high level of entertainment skills.  He was in several groups including the Kirby Stone Four and the New Christy Minstrels in the mid 1960’s.  He formed the First Edition in 1967 and went solo in 1973.

Kenny is also a well known actor.  He has starred in several movies which include, The Gambler I, II, and III, Coward of the County and Six Pack.

In 1991, Rogers entered into the fast food business, “Kenny Rogers Roasters.”  All locations in the United States have since closed and only operate in Asia.

Kenny has been married five times and has five kids.  He married Wanda Miller in June of 1997 and the couple have twin boys.

In October of 2012 released a book “Luck or Something Like It.”  The book is a memoir about the ups and downs in his musical career.

Tune in today at 8 a.m. for the Country Classic Flashback.  Brought to you by Midwest Machinery with nine locations in Central Minnesota including Sauk Rapids.
