Christmas Day to New Year’s Eve Coldest in Twin Cities in 132 Years
The National Weather Service says that week from Christmas Day (12/25/17) to New Year's Eve (12/31/17) was the coldest for that stretch of days in the Twin Cities in 132 years. That's 1872 by the way.
I thought it seemed a little chilly. :)
The coldest temps recorded during that stretch occurred on the same morning (12/27/17) when it hit -40° in Embarrass and -41º in Cotton -- both in St. Louis County.
According to SCSU's Bob Weisman, this morning marked the 12th straight day in St. Cloud with a low temp of zero or below. The St. Cloud record for consecutive lows of zero or colder is 37 days between January 17 and February 22 in 1936.
Two and a half months until the first day of Spring.
