Chris Young Is Protective of New Music, Wants Fans to Hear Studio Version First
Chris Young is working on new music for an upcoming new album, and while he's increasingly eager to share it with fans, don't expect to hear new songs on tour until he's ready.
"In the world we live in, the minute you play it, someone recorded it and it will be on the internet," Young says to Taste of Country Nights' Sam Alex.
"The first thing I want people to hear — like the very first time they sit down — is the actual recording of the song," he insists, "Because you have spent so much time going through and making the mix and making sure its mastered the way you want it. I really want people to hear that first.”
On Feb. 13, Young shared a photo snapped in a California recording studio, where he seems to have been writing and recording new tracks.
Some of the new music — including his new single, 'Raised on Country" — has Young charting new territory when it comes to subject matter.
"There is a lot of stuff I've said or written about on this record that I haven't said or written about before," he dishes. "At this point of my career, that’s saying a lot."
One new song will have Young collaborating with Dan + Shay's Shay Mooney.
Young recently announced his 2019 Raised on Country Tour, which launches May 16 in Georgia with special guest Chris Janson and openers Dylan Scott, LoCash and Jimmie Allen. The run goes through the summer, currently scheduled to wrap in September.
