Down toward the Iowa border, about a three-hour drive from St. Cloud, there is a waterfall flowing beneath the earth's surface. Harmony, Minnesota is home to Niagra Cave, which is one of two publically accessible caves in our state.

Niagra Cave is part of a limestone cave system that started forming millions of years ago, as water found its way into cracks in the stone and slowly widened them, creating passageways. Niagra Cave is family-owned and operated and is frequently named one of the best caves in the United States by various travel magazines and media outlets.

The cave was originally discovered in 1924 and opened for tours a decade later in 1934. The cave has had three families stewarding it since its discovery, the Cremer family (1930s-1980s), Vikre family (1980s-1990s), and the Bishop family who purchased the cave in 1995 and operate the business to this day.

While you are visiting Niagra Cave, you can also play a round of mini-golf on their 18-hole mini-golf course, pan for gemstones, and stretch your legs while you have a picnic in their 10-acre park area.

If you are interested in visiting this cool cave with an underground waterfall, they are open seven days a week for tours rain or shine. General admission tickets for people 13 and up are just $20. Admission for kids aged 3-12 costs $12. Getting into the cave is as easy as reserving your time slot for a tour and checking out on their website.
