Popular Baby & Kids Store Will Be Closing Around 150 Stores
This is never a good thing to hear. First, it's bad to hear that stores are closing, and even worse when you think about how many jobs will be lost as well. This isn't good.
WHY ARE THEY CLOSING
If you are a person who does a lot of shopping for babies and little kids, you have undoubtedly heard of and have probably shopped at Carter's stores. There is one located here in St. Cloud in Crossroads Mall, and also another in the Albertville Outlets.
There will be about 50 stores that will close this year, and they will be cutting about 300 corporate/office jobs. This part will happen this year. And the other stores - about 100 other closures will be happening within three years.
WILL STORES IN MINNESOTA CLOSE
There is no word officially where these closures will be happening. Are the stores here in Minnesota at risk? Yes. Just as much as any other state. As leases expire, they are planning to look at how well the store is performing, and if it's worth it to keep that particular store open or not. So at that time they will decide if they will be renewing a lease or not.
If you are a person who works for Carter's - would you start looking for a new job? I probably would. Just to be proactive. But, I'm sure that there would be some sort of compensation when they let anyone go. But who knows? They haven't stated that or not.
