The Stearns County Sheriff's Office shared over the weekend the role that their deputies played while the manhunt for Vance Boelter played out the weekend of June 14th and 15th. While the deputies and their bloodhounds weren't a part of the actually apprehension, the tracking they provided were invaluable to the investigation.

As many of you are aware, a tragic event unfolded last weekend involving the senseless killings of elected officials in Minnesota, which led to a manhunt to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Our agency was proud to assist in the search by deploying our bloodhounds to the Green Isle area. They aided in tracking the suspect from his abandoned vehicle to the area where he was ultimately located. While the dogs did not track the suspect all the way to the end, they played a crucial role in guiding officers in the right direction.

We take great pride in our K-9s and the tremendous work they do.

A Nearly 2-Day Long Man Hunt

The manhunt for Boelter went on for almost 2 full days after it was alleged that Vance Boelter started him crime spree in the early morning hours of June 14th, before being caught in a farm field at 9:15PM on Sunday the 15th, in Green Isle.

Since his arrest in that field near Green Isle, Boelter has been charged Federally "with stalking and murdering Minnesota House of Representatives Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, in addition to stalking and shooting Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife."
