If you are like me and starting to plan out your summer, there is a secluded cabin on Lake Vermillion that could be calling you, if you like to get away from it all. The cabin, which is owned by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, is currently taking reservations for 2025.

The description of the cabin has me interested, as it sounds like a great place to go and get away from it all! Here is how the cabin is described in the social media post:

The cabin features a well-equipped kitchen, three bedrooms, and electrical heat for chilly evenings. Outside, guests can enjoy stunning lake views from the spacious deck, and a fire ring for marshmallows under the stars. You can even cast a line from the shore and try your luck with the famous waters of Lake Vermilion.

Now, there are some things you'll need to bring with you if you book your stay on this literal hidden gem. Since the cabin is on an island, there are two absolutes you'll need:

Because this secluded cabin is on its own island, guests will need a boat to get there, in addition to their own water as there is no plumbing on the island.

This cabin is so 'hidden' it's not even on the state park reservation list, so if you want to reserve this secluded cabin on Lake Vermillion, you are going to have to call.

Reservations for this cabin need to be made through the Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park by calling (218) 300-7017. You can also find more details, including the rental price, about the cabin here.
You can check out the photos of the cabin, which were shared on social media by the Minnesota DNR.
There is a handicap-accessible ramp for those that need it at this cabin, along with a full kitchen.
How awesome is this vintage stove? I wonder how much cleaning it has needed over the years to keep that chrome shining.
The sleeping area appears to be in a shared space, but you won't have to worry about neighbors stopping by.
