88-year-old Wayzata Man Retiring For the Second Time
You know the saying "Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life", well that just about sums up Art Mason. He works are the Wayzata, Minnesota McDonald's and serves just as many smiles as he does Happy Meals.
Art retired from his job in a factory 30 years and and enjoyed retirement for three months before he got bored. At that time the Wayzata McDonald's had found itself short-staffed and a manager asked Art if he would be willing to fill in for a couple of weeks.
Those weeks turned into 29 years in the drive thru window. The blue scarf he wears in the winter months was made for him by one of the customers. His hat is filled with a colorful pin collection customers like to add to. People just love going to McDonald's and seeing Art's smiling face and positive energy.
Art has outlasted the owner, the managers and every other employee at the restaurant, but now he is turning in his uniform. When asked by his brother, Stan, what he plans to do for his second retirement, Art replied:
‘I don't know, but I'll find something to do.'
Best wishes on your retirement Art! You can read his full write up on Kare11's website!
