Christmas at my house is pretty much the same every year. My family has adopted a few traditions over the years that we never intended to--they just kind of happened. We have a very Minnesotan style Christmas every year.

1. You'll watch the Yule log on TV if you don't have a fire place. My family loves watching the mystery person add another log on the fire. I'm not sure if we're all THAT bored, or if it's just that exciting.

2. Lefse is served even if your family doesn't have a Norwegian decent. This has kind of become a Minnesota thing.

3. Lutefisk is also a Norwegian tradition that has been adopted by many non-Norwegian Minnesotans. Someone in my family always brings lutefisk for fun--just to try to get others in my family to try it.

4. Charlie Brown Christmas is always a must see on Christmas. Chances are, your family might even watch it together as a group.

5. Your Christmas gifts are wrapped in random boxes. I once got a present that was wrapped in a cracker box. I literally thought that my grandma gave me crackers. If you're going to do this, make sure the gift inside of the box is better than what was originally in the box. You'll cause some major disappointment if you do don't that.

6. Homemade Christmas cookies that grandma makes using a church cook book!

7. Hors d'oeuvres that include a cheese ball, meat and cheese tray, Jell-o mold, cocktail weenies (wrapped in bacon is a bonus), meatballs and taco dip.

9. Nativity scenes. My grandma sets up her nativity scenes every year. They get quite complex sometimes too. It's a whole village that she puts together. I have no idea where you even get things like that anymore.

10. Your family most likely does some kind of white elephant gift exchange. You've probably seen some weird gifts. My uncle put a toilet seat in the exchange one year.

Is there anything else that your family does that you think should be on this list?
