The Minnesota Twins have agreed to a two year contract with manager Ron Gardenhire. Gardenhire has been the manager of the team since 2002.

Only eight managers in MLB history had retained their jobs after three straight 90-loss seasons, with Gardenhire becoming the ninth. Tom Kelly lost at least 90 games from 1997-2000 with the Twins before improving the team in 2001 and ultimately walking away.

Gardenhire has a 998-947 record as the manager of the Twins, with a 6-21 record in postseason play. Three of those wins came in a first round playoff win over Oakland in 2002.

A press conference announcing the move is expected later Monday afternoon.
