Join me on Sunday, March the 29th for the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight featuring Earl Thomas Conley.

Earl Thomas Conley merged a hard country sound with rock n' roll energy which made him a dominate force in country music in the 1980's.  In 1981 he  was signed by RCA Records.  He accumulated 17 Billboard #1 singles over eight years.  They include Once in a Blue Moon, Nobody Falls Like a Fool, Holding Her and Loving You and many more Top Ten hits.

My favorite song of all is Holding Her and Loving You. It was written by Walt Aldridge and Tom Brasfield.  The song was released in August 1983 from the album, Don't Make it Easy for Me.  It became his fourth #1 country single.  The song shot to #1 for one week and spent a total of fourteen weeks on the country chart.

It's the hardest thing I'll ever do, leavin' here without you and the second hardest thing I'll ever do is tellin' her about you.

He had eighteen number one hits in the 1980's.  His sales took a dramatic dip during 1990 due to the rise of contemporary country, but he had two new top ten hits, Shadow of a Dought and a duet with Keith Whitley, Brotherly Love.

You can hear more of your favorite country classic hits every Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm.  Remember we take your requests at 320-252-9897 or email dick@minnesotasnewcountry.com.
