On Sunday November 15th at 11 am join me for the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight featuring the music of Earl Thomas Conley.  We get started at 9 am with Country Classic’s at 98.1 FM Minnesota’s New Country, online and on your mobile device

Earl Thomas Conley became a dominant force in country music in the 1980’s.  He scored eighteen number one hits, it was country music magic.  That’s more than most of the members of the Country Music Hall of Fame had in their entire careers.

Here’s a sample: Fire and Smoke, Holding Her and Loving You, Once in a Blue Moon and many more.  Throughout his entire career, his music has been referred to as ‘thinking man’s country,’  and that is because he always looks into the heart and soul in his characters in each song.

In 1983 he was nominated for multiple Grammy Awards for his song Holding Her and Loving You.  His record sales began to drop in the 1990’s as country music took a more progressive turn.

In 2002, Blake Shelton charted in the top Twenty with All Over Me which Conley co-wrote with  Blake and Michael Pyll.

He is still touring and still singing the songs his fans want to hear.
