WHAT WILL HE WEAR TODAY?

I've heard of people collecting T-shirts from all their favorite rock bands in the 80s or only wearing Hawaiian shirts all year round. But this shirt collection is one I've never heard of and is pretty unique and impressive. A man named Mike Saucer has a shirt for every occasion.

SAUSER'S HARDWARE IN PINE CITY

According to an online article, Mike Saucer, owner of Sauser's Hardware in Pine City, has a collection of over 250 shirts, all handmade by his wife, Mary Ellen.

THE CREATOR

Mary Ellen has been making Mike shirts ever since the 1980's. She makes three shirts at a time, and each one takes her about three hours to create. Mike's friend was wearing a Hawaiian shirt on the dance floor, and Mary Ellen told Mike that she could make him one. Little did she know that she would be still making him shirts decades later.

55 YEARS OF HARDWARE

Mike has lived in Pine City for years, and anyone who comes to Sauser's Hardware can spot him. His family has owned the business for over a century. Mike started working at the hardware store when he was a kid in 1969. "So I'm going on like 55 years of working here!" said Mike.

There are a few times when Mike doesn't wear one of his wife's themed shirts. That's when he's going golfing with his brother, or going to a funeral. Otherwise, that's what he wears.

A SHIRT FOR EVERY OCCASION

He's got a shirt for every occasion. Pizza night? Let's put on our pizza shirt. Bowling? Christmas? I bet Mary Ellen has all the holidays covered.

"Our Lions Club every year has a Pancake Day, where we make pancakes to raise money. Of course, I'm usually on the griddle with a pancake shirt on."

SPAM? Hey! It's made here in Minnesota, and yes! Mike has a shirt for that too.

When Mike was asked if he had a favorite, his response was, "I just know I look good in blue. Period! How would you be able to pick out a favorite child? I mean, that's about what it is!"

A DRIVE TO PINE CITY IS IN ORDER

All I know is; that I want to make the drive to Pince City to visit Sauser's Hardware on Main Street, maybe to pick up a few holiday decorations, nuts and bolts, and to meet the man who has the most unique collection of shirts I've ever seen.
