Capital One was hacked, according to CNN, the female hacker has been arrested. The breach stole the information of over 100 million customers who applied for a credit card between 2005 and 2019. So, how do you know if you were one of the victims? According to CNBC, Capital One will be notifying all of the victims of the breach via a letter by mail. They'll also offer those people free credit monitoring.

It's important to keep in mind that Capital One will not be calling or emailing you. If you do get a call or email regarding the breach, report it immediately. You can forward suspicious emails to the bank's security account, abuse@capitalone.com.

Capital One is also encouraging people to heavily monitor their credit activity and report anything that looks suspicious. If you do see something funky on your account, you're advised to call the number on the back of your credit card immediately.

According to a letter from Capital One's Chairman and CEO Richard D. Fairbank, the FBI has arrested the person responsible for the breach.
