Welcome Home! See What The Red Bull Homecoming Looked Like
Minnesota National Guard troops were welcomed home recently, after spending ten months deployed in the Middle East. Minnesota's National Guard shared some photos of the happy reunion between soldiers and family members. Here's what some of those reunions looked like.
Two more waves of 34th Infantry Division Red Bulls are back in Minnesota after a 10-month deployment to the Middle East. Thank you Red Bulls!
The photos are of recently deployed servicemen and servicewomen being reunited with loved ones and family members.
Each photo shows the emotional rollercoaster that each person is going through as they see their family member or loved one for the first time in 10 months.
Minnesota's 34th Infantry Division was in the Middle East as part of a peacekeeping mission. The Minnesota National Guard in February put out a press release that stated Minnesota's troops would be taking over for California troops as part of an ongoing mission.
"The Red Bulls will take over for the California National Guard’s 40th Infantry Division, becoming Task Force Spartan, comprising active Army and National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve units. Through Operation Spartan Shield, Task Force Spartan maintains a U.S. military posture in Southwest Asia, strengthening defense relationships and partner capacity."
The National Guard goes all the way back to the 1600s here in America, as "in 1636, the first militia regiments in North America were organized in Massachusetts. Based upon an order of the Massachusetts Bay Colony's General Court, the colony's militia was organized into three permanent regiments to better defend the colony."
A big thank you to those who serve our country and keep us free from harm. We especially want to recognize those who will be serving overseas during the holidays, know that we are thinking about you, as you keep us out of harm's way.
