Every year most people in Minnesota plan to attend some sort of outdoor festival.  And usually that is a tradition that happens every year.  A group of the same people get together and head to the Minnesota state fair, a music festival, or the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

The Minnesota Ren Fest is usually easier to plan for because there are several weekends to choose from as the festival goes on for about 6 weekends and Labor Day.  The theme weekends have already been laid out, as the festival is scheduled to begin on August 16th.

Now, we have this unfortunate event that happened yesterday.

The extent of the fire has not yet been determined.  The fire started yesterday, and may have been a result of the weather, and a possible lightning strike.  That is just a theory at this point, but more will be known later today.

There appears to be approximately 5 buildings that have been burned at this time and those burned to the ground.  It's hard to tell to what extent other nearby buildings have been damaged.  Most of them are boarded up because it's the off season, and some are boarded up because of the fire yesterday.

The Ren Fest is due to open in about 4 months from now. No word yet on if this will delay things or not.  An announcement on that will probably come within the next week or so.  The damage needs to be assessed before any decision will be made.
