With their roller coaster 9-7 today over the Rays in Tampa, the Minnesota Twins have become the first team in the American League to hit 40 wins.

The Twins are now 40-18, a whopping 22 games above .500, good for first place in the AL's Central Division, 11.5 games ahead of second place Cleveland. That's the largest divisional lead in the majors.

Their starting pitching staff has the sixth best ERA (3.88) in baseball, and the offense continues to pile it on. The lead the MLB with 109 home runs, team batting average at .275, and runs at 347 (more than 20 ahead of the next closest).

By the way. the team with the best ERA is the Tampa Bay Rays, who the Twins just beat three out of four this weekend in Tampa.
