Trobec's Bar-Grill in St. Stephen, Minnesota will be celebrating their 83rd annual chicken fry on Friday, June 7 from 11:30 a.m. to midnight.

The chicken fry is a long standing community tradition dating back to 1936. According to an interview with Ray Trobec via WJON News, the chicken fry started as a way to raise money for the bar's liquor license back in the day.

The first year of the fry, they served up about 50 chickens from Trobec's grandfather's farm. That number has grown significantly over the years since the annual event draws out hundreds of people.
