One Of The Largest Cranes In The World Is Working In Minnesota Right Now
Fans of construction equipment both old and not-so-old should be on the lookout for one of the largest cranes in the world as it is seeing some work in the #BoldNorth for the next few months. Fans of big machines will be able to catch a glimpse of the big crane in Rosemount as it will be working at Flint Hills Resources for the next few months.
A video was shared by Flint Hills Resources to social media last week of the large frame in action, along with a description of just how big the crane is and who owns it.
With a maximum height of 722 ft and weighing 3 million pounds, it’s one of the largest cranes in the world, and for the next several months it will be at its first job site – our own Pine Bend refinery in Rosemount, MN. The video below is of the crane performing its first heavy lift.
Owned and operated by VIC's Crane & Heavy Haul – also located in Rosemount – the crane’s height is similar to the tallest skyscrapers in downtown Minneapolis. The 686-horsepower crane took 100+ truckloads of parts to assemble.
The crane will be in use for the next few months at the Pine Bend Refinery, and you might be able to see it while driving by.
Note that the crane is located on private property owned by the refinery you shouldn't proceed onto private property in order to look for the crane.
