If you could have what ten dollars was worth when you were born, what would you blow it on?

Of course, it depends on how long ago you were born (no judgments).

We'll start with me, then jump backwards and forward for comparison. Exciting, right?

1979: Ten of Today's Dollars Would Be Worth $36.92

That could get me about a tank of gas, at least a week's worth of groceries (for me), three new sets of guitar strings, or a couple growlers of locally-brewed beer.

1969: Ten of Today's Dollars Would Be Worth $70.83

Not a shabby exchange rate! This would almost get me enough gasoline to get through a whole week, a few very choice steaks, or some higher-shelf scotch.

1989: Ten of Today's Dollars Would Be Worth $20.82

Oof. Welp, gasoline for two days of commuting, a few good pork chops and veggies, or  two 6-packs of Guinness Extra Stout.

1999: Ten of Today's Dollars Would Be Worth $15.35

Not as bad of a jump down here.

2008: Ten Years Ago, Ten of Today's Dollars Was Worth $11.95

Every penny helps! How much was $10 worth when YOU were born?
