Tanner: Excelling in Mechanical Drafting Because of St Cloud Technical College

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE?

It's almost time for Minnesota Seniors to make the decision; What do I want to do after school? Do I want to go to college? Do I have a career path in mind? Do I want to go straight into the workforce? Do I want to be a business owner?

The path I chose was Broadcast Communications. I knew that I wanted to PLAY music; but I didn't want to teach music. So I started on a journey looking at all of the great offerings our various State Colleges and Universities offered; and found my calling.

MY SON TANNER: EXCELLING IN MECHANICAL DRAFTING

Now my sons are on the same journey. Just like I attended Bemidji State University for Mass Communications  back in 1985, my son Tanner is now attending St. Cloud Community & Technical College, pursuing a career in Mechanical Drafting! He loves drawing; he loves animation. We happened to take the Tour of Manufacturing when it came to town and toured DCI; it was an eye opener; and the reason he decided to choose Mechanical Drafting as his Major. A way for him to incorporate his interests in math, drawing, and creativity. He is wrapping up his first year, and will soon be able to graduate, or continue on and get  a degree in Engineering if he chooses. He also has a deep artistic desire to do 3D Animation; and working with 3D Mechanical Drafting is giving him a completely new and different perspective to add to his knowledge in choosing a career path.

He is learning such new and exciting things! Plus he's getting into a field that pays well, and something that he never could have learned without the help of our Minnesota State Colleges & Universities.

BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS AND OPEN A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY

With summer right around the corner, I encourage you; don't be afraid to pursue your dreams. All it takes is ONE STEP AT A TIME. Write down what you think you might be interesting and start looking! Talk to the college administratos, counselors, and tour some Minnesota Colleges & Universities. The possibilities are endless!
