Apollo and Tech are sending a big contingent of athletes to participate in the state track and field meet at St. Michael-Albertville Thursday-Saturday (June 9-11).

Graduates and families of graduates can get very excited about the announcement of students' names during graduation ceremonies. Because of this Tech and Apollo High Schools have traditionally asked families and students from applause and outbursts while names are announced so all names can be heard and for the process to proceed in a timely fashion.

During the summer months St. Cloud Schools often have planned maintenance and improvement projects. St. Cloud School Superintendent Willie Jett joined me on WJON today. He says they have planned HVAC work scheduled for Apollo High School this upcoming year and an improved entrance at North Junior High.

The St. Cloud Area School District is looking to combine several high school sports teams prior to the upcoming school year.

St. Cloud State's Halenbeck Hall is the site for a boys basketball section final doubleheader Thursday night. Apollo plays 6th ranked Delano at 6pm tonight in the first game, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:50. Apollo is 16-12 while Delano is 25-3.

The Apollo baseball team lost 2-1 in the section 83A championship game Wednesday night at Dick Putz Field.

The high school football regular season wraps up tonight when rivals Apollo (0-7) and Tech (5-2) do battle at Clark Field at 7pm, pregame on WJON at 6:50.  Joe Clemence calls the action tonight.  Tech with a win would share the Central Lakes Conference title...
