On Sunday February 7th at 11 am, join me for the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight.  This week we’re featuring Suzy Bogguss.

We get started at 9 am with the Country Classic Show at 98.1 FM Minnesota’s New Country, online and on your mobile device.

Suzy Bogguss was born in Aledo, Illinois, the youngest of four siblings on December 30, 1956.

Bogguss majored in Art at Illinois State University; her plan was to make jewelry.  In college she was exposed to music and that’s when she began performing in small clubs and coffee houses.

She recorded a couple albums that had minor success in 1989 and 1990.  But her third album for Capitol Records was her breakthrough album “Aces” in 1991.  That album had four top ten hits, “Outbound Plane,” “Someday Soon,” “Letting Go” and the title track from the album “Aces.”  This album showcased her beautiful and versatile voice.

Bogguss took some time off in the mid-90s to start a family with her husband songwriter Doug Crider and giving birth to their son, Ben.  Bogguss returned to country music, but did not match her earlier success.
