St. John's (10-1) routed the U of Dubuque (8-3) 51-7 in the opening round of the NCAA Division III football playoffs this afternoon in Collegeville. St. Thomas (11-0) also won this afternoon, pitting the Johnnies and Tommies against one another next Saturday in St. Paul.

St. Thomas handed the Johnnies their only loss of the season, 35-14 in Collegeville on September 26th. The Johnnies and Tommies have never faced each other in the playoffs.

Saturday's meeting will be the 114th anniversary of the first meeting between the two schools, which was Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 28, 1901. SJU won that game 16-6.

Saturday's kickoff is set for Noon at O'Shaughnessy Stadium in St. Paul.

Go Johnnies!
