I want to make something very clear from the start here, I am in no way trying to under-mind Law Enforcement in the St. Cloud area. If anything, I’m trying to make it easier for them to do their jobs, and for it to be safe in the area for everyone.

Over the last few months, I noticed about the increased law enforcement presence on Clearwater Road going to or away from Downtown St. Cloud.

It’s not uncommon for me to see two or three law enforcement officers patrolling that area at a time. It’s also not uncommon for me to see more than one car pulled over on the side of the road being cited for speeding.

I first wrote about this a few months back when I noticed a portable digital speed limit sign on the side of the road. That came after a few days of seeing officers with heavy patrol on the road even at four in the morning on my way to work.

Since then, the digital speed limit sign has been back a few times, and the presence has remained fairly heavy. After seeing three officers in the span of about thirty seconds two different times yesterday, I thought I’d remind drivers who use the road again to slow down.

Obviously, some drivers aren’t getting the hints with the digital sign displaying their speed to them, so officers must keep a steady presence there.

In fact, yesterday, I was headed home to check on my dog while on a break from work, and a deputy who was behind me turned quickly and pulled a truck going the other way.

There are homes and apartments along this road as well as three churches and a few businesses, so the speed limit is warranted.

So, if you take Clearwater Road to go south toward St. Augusta or I-94, or you go north toward St. Cloud from those directions, be aware, local law enforcement is serious about keeping speeds down in this area, so why don’t you do your part, and slow down.
