UNDATED (WJON News) -- The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of Minnesota.

The watch is in effect until midnight Thursday and includes Stearns, Benton, and Sherburne counties along with all of the surrounding area.

Scattered showers and storms will develop in western Minnesota by the late afternoon and move southeast into Thursday evening.

Additional development along I-90 in southern Minnesota is possible Thursday evening.

One or two storms will be strong to severe, capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning.
