Should We Have “Adulting Classes” in Central Minnesota Schools?
WHAT ARE ADULTING CLASSES?
Seniors at Bullitt Central High School in Shepherdsville Kentucky recently had a class that taught them 'adulting' tasks, including how to cook in college, how to pay bills, and how to change a tire. Whoa! What a great idea!
WHAT ADULTING TASKS WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR KIDS TO LEARN IN SCHOOL?
I've often thought about how useful this would be. Some of us have parents that can really get us started on the right foot. What about taxes? Life skills? What do you think? Do our central Minnesota schools teach high school students how to adult? Here's my checklist of things I'd love to have students learn in school.
- It's not someone else's job to pick up after you. AMEN!
- Generally speaking, if there is something you want, you are going to have make it happen. There are no shortcuts to greatness.
- How to pay your bills
- Common sense.
- The importance of keeping things tidy
- Understanding Taxes
- The dangers of credit cards
- Identity theft
- Internet safety
