The National Weather Service says there's a risk of severe thunderstorms across Central Minnesota today.

The main threat will be the risk of strong damaging wind gusts. The storms are expected to impact the Saint Cloud area mainly this afternoon.

From the National Weather Service this morning: Isolated severe storms producing damaging winds are possible this afternoon from central Minnesota into west central Wisconsin.

Following today's storms, Central Minnesota is in for a cool down, heading into a prolonged stretch of below average temperatures. High temperatures might not climb out of the forties between now and Halloween.

There's also a chance snowflakes mixing into in the forecast Friday through Monday.
