The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for a large portion of Central Minnesota until Midnight tonight.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch includes Benton, Douglas, Kandiyohi, Mille Lacs, Meeker, Morrison, Pope, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, and Wright counties in Central Minnesota.

Large hail and damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area tonight.

From the National Weather Service this evening: Instability will continue to increase across much of Minnesota in the wake of morning convection. Storms are expected to develop in extreme Western Minnesota near the low pressure. Additional development is expected into Central Minnesota where convergence will be maximized along the surface boundary. The threat for severe weather dimities overnight.
