Today I opened up the mail and there was a copy of Toby Keith's new album just waiting to be listened to. Of course I had to give it a spin and see if it was the quality album that had been promised by Toby.

I popped in the cd and started listening to it in the studio, while I am on the air and let me tell you, it's really good - in fact, one of the best Toby Keith albums to date!

The album starts off with Toby's Made In America - the first number one hit from the new album. The second track is I Need To Hear A Country Song - a song about sitting in the bar begging to hear a country song on the jukebox.

The third track is the title track from the album - Clancy's Tavern. This song reminds me of an old Irish folk song with it's rhythm and melody that in reminiscent of The Rising Of The Moon. I really love Toby's voice on this song and it shows that he truly loves his grandmother as he sings about her in this song.

Tryin' To Fall In Love is an upbeat, fun song about trying to get a woman to love you and the perils of the hunt. Just Another Sundown is a great ballad about being promised a forever and not making it there.

By track 6, the tempo comes back for Beers Ago and it isn't a drinking song. It is a great reflective song of where you are right now and the things you did in your past. Great spin on looking back on your own life.

Toby brings the tempo back to medium in South of You. A great song about getting over the one you love by leaving. Track 8 is Club Zydeco Moon and it is a dark, smokey song that reminds me of a song Johnny Cash would have recorded. A great story song from Toby.

I Won't Let You Down is the perfect song for any guy that is in love. I appreciate Toby writing this one for us that believe we are who we are and if you don't expect too much from us, we will never let you down. It's everything that we aren't, but everything we are.

The most talked about song from Clancy's Tavern is Red Solo Cup. This fun tribute to the party staple at any kegger. Toby always seems to work at least one song on each album that is tongue-in-cheek and makes you laugh. This is that song for this album.

Clancy's Tavern ends with Chill-Axin. This is a song that all of us can relate to. We hustle and bustle constantly and sometimes we just need to relax, kick back and recharge ourselves.

In my personal opinion, this is the best Toby Keith album. This is the one that I can put into the CD player and relax to. It's not in your face, it's not loud, it's not making you mad from the lyrics - it's just honest songs that make you actually feel good by the end. All the songs on it were written or co-written by Toby except Red Solo Cup and I have a feeling that Toby heard it and had to have it on the album.

When Clancy's Tavern goes on sale Tuesday, you really should buy it. Even if you aren't a Toby Keith fan, you'll want this album.

If you don't believe me, tune in Sunday afternoon at 5pm for the premiere of Toby's album. You will hear 5 songs from the album and a bonus live song as Toby sits down with Lon Helton and goes through the album.
