WAITE PARK - One man is in the hospital and another man has been arrested after a shooting in Waite Park.

Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud says that a Stearns County Deputy was flagged down by the man who had been shot in the chest.  The incident happened just after 8:00 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Waite Avenue.

The deputy who was flagged down by the victim was able to arrest the suspect in the shooting.

Bentrud says the victim is in the ICU, but he believes he is expected to survive.

The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released.   The suspect is described as a 54 year old man.  The victim is described as a 36-year-old man.

Officers from several police departments were on the scene of an incident along Waite Avenue in Waite Park.  Squad cars from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Sartell Police, and St. Cloud Police are all on scene assisting the Waite Park Police Department.

St. Cloud Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says that the incident happened in Waite Park, not St. Cloud, and that his department was assisting on the scene.  Oxton also says the incident did not happen on Crossroads Mall property, and that the mall was not impacted by this incident.

Bentrud says he may release more details this morning.
