If you have been thinking about one more trip to the Pine Grove Zoo in Little Falls before fall really settles in, this weekend would be a pretty good time to go.

Pine Grove Zoo is celebrating its members with Membership Appreciation Weekend, happening Thursday, September 17th through Sunday, September 20th, and if you are a zoo member, you can expect a few extra surprises along the way!

BEHIND-THE-SCENES ADVENTURES AWAIT

The zoo says each day will feature different fun bonuses for members, including giveaways and behind-the-scenes adventures. The exact activities will change throughout the weekend, so the zoo is encouraging visitors to stay tuned to find out what is happening each day.

And honestly, this is a beautiful time of year to visit Pine Grove Zoo. I talk with Director Marnita Van Hoeke quite often, and she informed me that when the temps are cooler, the animals are more active, so if you want to see the beautiful animals moving around, it's a great time of year to visit.

The zoo is home to more than 35 species, giving visitors plenty of animals to see while enjoying the grounds and getting outside for a walk. Pine Grove Zoo describes itself as a place where people can explore, encounter, and rediscover the wonders of the wild, while also learning more about animals and nature.

They also keep their animals on location all year long.'This is their home, so sending them to some other city for the winter is scary and frightening for them. We don't do that to our animals,' Said Director Marnita Van Hoeke.

There is another reason to make this weekend's visit count. Pine Grove Zoo is moving into its fall schedule, which means the hours are changing as summer comes to an end.

MOVING TO THE FALL SCHEDULE

Instead of being open seven days a week with the longer summer hours, the zoo's fall schedule means visitors will want to plan their trip for Thursday through Sunday.

The fall schedule runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving families plenty of time to walk through the zoo, see the animals, and enjoy the cooler weather.

That change is especially important if you have gotten used to simply deciding on a random weekday to head to the zoo. Once the fall schedule is in place, you will want to double-check the hours before heading out.

For members, though, this weekend is an especially good opportunity to take advantage of that membership and enjoy some extra perks along the way.

And if you are not a member yet, it might be worth taking a look at what Pine Grove Zoo has to offer.

SUPPORT ANIMAL CARE THROUGH A MEMBERSHIP

A membership is not just about getting through the gate. It helps support the zoo and the care of the animals while giving families a reason to come back and enjoy the zoo throughout the season.

Pine Grove Zoo is located at 1200 West Broadway in Little Falls. The zoo can be reached at 320-616-5595 or through its website for the latest information about Membership Appreciation Weekend, fall hours, and upcoming events.

So if you have been saying, "We should get to the zoo one more time before winter," this is your sign.

IT'S THE PERFECT TIME OF YEAR FOR A VISIT

Grab the kids, the grandkids, or just somebody who loves animals as much as you do, and make a trip to Pine Grove Zoo this weekend. And if you're already a member, don't forget to take advantage of your special weekend. There may just be a few extra surprises waiting for you when you get there.
