How Many Minnesotans Own This Oven That Has Been Recalled?
A popular small kitchen appliance has been recalled for a strange and dangerous issue that could lead to burns. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that Sunbeam Products has announced the Oster French Door Countertop Ovens have a failure where the doors just close on their own which can lead to burns by unsuspecting individuals who are reaching in the oven.
Nearly 1.3 million of these ovens have been sold and Sunbeam reports there have been 95 complaints of people being burned, and two of those victims suffered second degree burns. These ovens were sold between 2015 and 2025 at Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Costco as well as popular online outlets Amazon.com and Overstock.com.
The models in question have the model numbers TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDG, TSSTTVFDMAF and TSSTTVFDDAF on them. The doors in question are spring loaded and have a glass door with metal handles on them. You can find the model number on a label on the back of the oven.
The models have different cooking options, for example one is an air fryer. Some models have knobs on them while the others have a digital display. Oster is engraved on the front of the oven.
If you own one of these ovens, here’s what you need to do. First stop using the oven immediately, then, contact Sunbeam, and they will send you a free repair kit which will contain a clip-on device that adds additional holding force to help secure the door open better.
