News @ Noon: Country Legend Crystal Gayle Talks About Her Show In St. Cloud [AUDIO]
NASHVILLE - Country music legend Crystal Gayle is bringing her Christmas Show to the Paramount Theatre in downtown St. Cloud. The show is this Friday at 7:30 p.m. - however, don't bother trying to get tickets because it's sold out.
Gayle says she'll be singing a lot of holiday music, as well as a lot of her big hits. She says she's at a point in her career now where she and pick and choose when and where she performs, and doesn't do the long tours anymore. Gayle says she still loves to sing and entertain people.
When asked about her most memorable hit in her career, she says first of mind is "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue", saying it's a song she never gets tired of singing.
I also asked her to compare today's country music to the classic stuff, she says " country music now is like pop music of the 1970's. It's doing well so you can't knock it. But, we don't want people to forget where country music comes from." Gayle also says she also hears from a lot of classic country fans that today's music and artists all sound similar now, and that there's no unique sounds and voices anymore.
