Parents and students got to tour the new Tech High School this week. I have to say that I was pretty impressed. It has a college campus feel to it. All the classrooms have glass walls and also have smaller rooms next to them that will be used for more targeted lessons. You will see in one picture below that there was one classroom with hospital beds. That will be for the new nursing class starting in the 2nd trimester.

There's a lot of natural light coming into the whole facility. Each "neighborhood" will be color coded to make it easier to get around and the lunch area is like a food court where students will have multiple options. We weren’t able to see the auditorium yet. I guess that’s going to be the last thing completed.

A few teachers I talked to said they're very excited and anxious. I'm sure the students are as well. My wife and I told our son we are envious of him that he gets to enjoy something like this even if it's for one year.

Here's some things the new Tech High School with have:

  • "A state of the art 800 seat auditorium; choir, orchestra, and band ensemble rooms and small group practice rooms; 2D and 3D art studios."
  • "An incredible array of athletic facilities. These include: pool, three court main gym and one court auxiliary gym, multipurpose activities room, fitness room, multipurpose outdoor stadium, four multipurpose grass fields, three softball fields, two baseball fields, and eight-court outdoor tennis facility."
  • "With the new cafeteria facilities, we will be able to offer students a “food court” feel. For example, there will be five serving lines each offering different menu options. A few exciting new options include a boneless chicken wing bar and yogurt and toppings bar. Eventually, we also hope to include a top your own waffle bar and smoothie station."
