Native Minnesotan, Prince, Will Receive Special Honor in February
Throughout my teen years almost anything you'd hear me playing would be one of two artists. And the bigger of the two would have been Prince. Posters on my bedroom walls and the whole fan girl items that you'd expect.
I didn't get to actually see Prince in concert until much later. It was early 2000's when I got tickets to each of his 3 shows that he did at the Xcel Energy Center. I didn't go to all three shows, but they weren't all announced at the same time. So I got tickets to the first one, then they added a second, I got better tickets, then they announced the third show, and I got 4 tickets in the 8th row!! The concert was done in the round, but 8th row was still pretty spectacular.
Prince has been awarded 7 grammys during his career. He also had 3 of his albums inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. They were 1999, Purple Rain and Sign o' the Times.
Coming up this February it's the annual Grammy awards show happening on the 2nd.. But the day before, on the 1st, Prince, along with Frankie Beverly, The Clash, Dr. Bobby Jones, Taj Mahal, Roxanne Shante and Frankie Valli, will receive Special Merit Awards from the Recording Academy.
As far as award shows go, I like the shows that have to do with music. At least they are fun to watch, and the performances are usually worth it.
