I seem to have a stroke of bad luck lately. Yesterday I told you about how I broke my toe and this morning my WORST fear was realized.

I got into my car like normal this morning, pulled out of the driveway, put mail into my box and proceeded to work. The air conditioning in my car was a nice relief because I turned the central air off in my house last night and opened the windows.

I got about halfway to work when something caught my attention. I took my eyes off of the road for a fraction of second before I felt my hands clam up, my mouth got dry and I could feel the tiny hairs on the back of my neck jump up.

I saw a huge black spider dangling from a massive web that was spun across the passenger seat, spilled into the back seat and continued on behind my head. It was something straight out of my nightmares.

I screamed even thought no one else could hear me and immediately pulled over to the side of the road in a residential area. I grabbed at whatever I could to smash the monster! I was in fight or flight mode. All at once the spider was gone and I had no idea where it was.

I was running up against the clock to get to work on time, all the while there was a spider on the loose in my car. I seemed to be at a stalemate. I searched the car for a while before I decided that I needed to find courage and brave it out so that I could get to work on time.

I nervously drove to work glancing at the last place I saw the spider before it disappeared--my passenger seat. My purse fell off of the seat and onto the floor. At this point I wasn't about to reach down for it in case the spider was waiting for me on the floor.

After what seemed like a lifetime, I finally I got to work and felt a small wave of relief wash over me. I jumped out of the car and frantically patted myself down in hopes that if the monster were on me, it would fall off.

I raided the car, tearing down every web that I crossed paths with. I searched the front passenger seat last. I cautiously began to pick my purse up off of the floor, inspecting every inch of it. What I noticed next was equally puzzling and shocking. My purple bag had crushed the beast when it fell onto the floor--what are the odds? At that moment I've never been more proud of my $6 purchase.

The lessons I took away from this whole thing are that purses save lives, karma is probably a real thing and always check your back seats.
