Minnesotans Will Get Paid To Make Lawns Bee Friendly
The last thing you ever wanted was more bees in your backyard, right? Wrong! The absence of bees is a real threat, and the states Environmental Bill has a new law in it that provides $900,000 to homeowners to create bee habitats on their lawns.
The funding will not be available until next year, but now is a good time to start thinking about whether you want to help.
Homeowners will be reimbursed for planting bee-friendly plants, like creeping thyme, self-heal and dutch white clover.
Bee experts want us to rethink the definition of a perfect lawn. A longer cut is better for bees, but you can still keep the basic look.
