The Minnesota Wild (44-24-8) lost to the Washington Capitals (50-17-8) 5-4 in overtime last night in St. Paul. Despite having the NHL's worst record in March, the Wild have clinched a playoff spot with six regular season games remaining.

This will be Minnesota's fifth straight playoff appearance, and eighth overall. It is still to be determined who the Wild's first round opponent will be. If the playoffs started today the Minnesota would face Nashville in the opening series.
