Minnesota, What’s Up With All The Tree Faces?
This isn't a new thing, but Minnesotans have been decorating their trees with faces for years. I'm not entirely sure why they do this. If you have never seen a tree face or don't know what I'm talking about, after you read this, you'll see them everywhere.

When I saw my first tree face I was about 17 years old and I was visiting my ex boyfriend's family cabin. It caught me off guard at first..."does that tree have...a face?" I asked inquisitively after having half a heart attack when I thought I saw someone looking at me.
He nonchalantly said, 'yeah, it's been there since before I was born.' I thought it was a little bizarre because I'd never seen someone do that to a tree before. I honestly thought it was something his family invented...I realized I was totally wrong.
After that first encounter, I now see these tree faces everywhere. But, why do people do it? It seems like Minnesotans are obsessed with them. I think they're supposed to be cute...like a garden gnome.
I personally find tree faces extremely creepy. I mean, think about it. You're sitting in nature all alone and enjoying the peaceful surroundings when all of a sudden there it is...a giant tree face starring at you. To be fair, I get freaked out by dolls, gnomes, and every other non-living object with a human looking face.
Minnesota, why are we obsessed with tree faces? Am I the only person who finds them creepy?
