WCCO reported DFL Rep. Erin Koegel (District 37A) suffered a serious injury whole using a power saw a little over a week ago. The story is she lost control of a power saw she was using and cut off 3 of her fingers in the process. Koegel lost her middle, ring and pinky fingers in the accident according to her GoFundMe page.
When I was a kid, I remember my dad having an accident with a chainsaw. It didn't turn out to be anywhere as serious as Erin's but it scared my dad enough that he hung that chainsaw up in the garage and never took it down again.
Erin was fortunate to have someone nearby to assist her after her fingers were severed by the power saw.
“Erin was very lucky to have her brother’s girlfriend, Hannah with her who is a trained EMT who immediately helped get Erin stable and stop the bleeding,” the GoFundMe said.
Erin was airlifted to Robbindale's North Memorial hospital where surgeons were able to reattach her middle finger.
In a Twitter post linked to her GoFundMe page Minnesota House Speaker, Melissa Hortman from District 36B posted this “Our dear friend and colleague, Rep. Erin Koegel, suffered a terrible accident a little over a week ago,”
Koegel, from Spring Lake Park, Minnesota, is currently in her 3rsd term representing her House District 37A. She is married and has a 2 year old daughter at home in Spring Lake Park.
There is a GoFundMe page where you can donate whatever you are able to help Erin in her recovery. You can donate HERE
