Minnesota State Patrol Working Overtime on Snowy Saturday
A burst of snowfall across Central Minnesota today created havoc on roadways across the area, keeping troopers of the Minnesota State Patrol busy responding to accidents and spinouts.
As of 9 PM tonight the state patrol is reporting 407 crashes statewide, with an additional 229 spinouts and a couple of jack-knifed semis. It was an especially dangerous day resulting in 47 injuries and one fatality.
The noteworthy event of the day was a 25-vehicle pileup on I-94 near Rogers. The events began when a semi attempted to avoid a stalled car when the truck driver lost control. Mayhem ensued when following drivers tried to avoid the truck.
Three people were taken to area hospitals with non- life threatening injuries.
Roads across Central Minnesota and in the City of St. Cloud remain slick tonight. Be careful out there.
