If there is one thing Minnesotans hold sacred it is the State Fair. The Great Minnesota Get-Together has been happening since 1859, and has been named one of the best in the nation. But during a global pandemic, things are looking questionable for the event.

In a Facebook post from April 23rd, the fair was uncertain of what this summer will hold:

At this point, the outlook for late summer events remains unknown. As of now, there is no specific date by which a decision to hold the fair must be made. That picture will become more clear in the weeks ahead as we continue to be in contact with our partners that are vital to produce an event the size and scope of the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

With social distancing guidelines in effect and other large events being canceled and postponed, the fair is also having to consider their options. The post continued on stating alternate fair dates, a change in the duration of the fair, or significant restrictions are not being considered.

The State Fair is a grand celebration of all things Minnesota and they want to uphold that tradition. They are discussing and considering options that will enable them to provide that grand experience in 2020.

They wrapped up the update on the fair saying:

Please know and rest assured the State Fair will do the right thing for Minnesota, our nation and our world.

The fair is reliant on exhibitors, vendors, performers, suppliers and so many other people and organizations across the state and country, and the fair board is taking everyone's health and safety into consideration.

Fingers crossed the fair can happen this year. It is something I look forward to every single year along with so many other Minnesotans. Stay healthy!

One of my favorite State Fair treats is a Dole Whip from the Dole stand. Here is how to make one at home!
