Minnesota in the Top 10 for Education Despite This Setback
Depending on where you live, it seems like some states or regions around the United States really focus on education, and others focus on the environment, sports or just learning enough to "get by" and continue with their lives.
There are some stereotypes regarding education, and mostly higher education. whether or not most of the population has gone on to college or not. The stereotype is the many people in the Southern part of the United States has not gone on to college. And from this study, that is not that far off. Mississippi comes in at number 50.
And if you also thought of a stereotype where the states in New England are the most educated, you would also be correct. According to this study, Massachusetts is the most educated state. Well, they really focus on education... and expensive education as Harvard and MIT are both located in the state, actually located in the same city, Cambridge.
Minnesota ranked at number 10. So yes, technically in the top 10. What are the factors that put Minnesota in that spot? According to this study, it's because most people here do continue on to higher education because apparently Minnesota makes it affordable for residents to go to college. Even though, the study also puts Minnesota into one of the poorer states in the country, education is a priority.
Somehow I feel both proud and offended at the same time. How about you?
