This MN Hotel Refused DHS Agents, Now Not A Hilton
A Minnesota hotel that cancelled reservations made by DHS and ICE agents earlier this week, in a now viral social media post, then got caught in a video on social media refusing service again, has had its signage removed, and is no longer associated with the Hilton brand.
Hampton Inn In Lakeville Cancels DHS & ICE Reservations
Earlier this week, a Minnesota hotel cancelled reservations for DHS and ICE agents. The public probably wouldn't have known about the cancellation, except that Immigration and Customs Enforcement shared the online reservation cancellation on social media.
After ICE shared the post, the story garnered national attention. It was reported that the hotel reversed its stance and was accepting reservations from DHS and ICE agents.
An online journalist then went to the hotel Monday night and attempted to reserve a block of 10 rooms while pretending to be a DHS agent and was refused, stating that ownership wasn't renting rooms to DHS or ICE agents. When that story got attention from the media, Hilton on Tuesday stated it was going to remove its association with the Lakeville hotel.
Hampton Inn Sign Now Gone
Hilton didn't wait long. Yesterday, cranes were seen at the hotel removing the Hampton Inn signage at the hotel.
Hampton Inn Was Not The Only Minnesota Hotel Causing Issues For ICE
Another hotel, a Marriott in Bloomington, fired an employee for sharing personal details about DHS and ICE agents staying at that hotel on Reddit.
According to a X user, the hotel in question was the Residence Inn in Bloomington.
