Did You Know Minnesota State Law Prohibits This?
There are laws about this that and the other thing. And some that are still on the books probably need to be looked at again, because they seem a little ridulous. If you have ever looked at the dumblaws website, you will see some of the stupidest things I have ever heard of. I'm sure that there was a reason for them at one point, but the fact that they are still there is wild. Like the law that says that you cannot walk from Minnesota into Wisconsin with a duck on your head. Uhhh, ok.
CAN YOU BELIEVE SOME OF THESE LAWS ARE STILL ON THE BOOKS
This law is not included in the dumb laws website, but maybe it should be. It's so stupid, and I had no idea it was a law. But here ya go.
It's is a state law that nursing homes and assissted living facilities cannot serve any sort of alcohol.
From Bring Me the News:
Happy Hour shouldn’t have an age limit. At least that’s according to Anita LeBrun, a resident of the Champlin-based Amira Choice assisted living facility. LeBrun recently testified before legislators at the Minnesota State Capitol in support of the so-called “Grandparents’ Happy Hour” bill, which would let nursing homes and assisted living facilities serve alcohol to residents and their guests during activities and events. State law currently prohibits it.
THE BILL IS HEADING TO THE HOUSE FOR THE NEXT STEP
What the heck? It seems like it would be a no-brainer to include some sort of happy hour for these group events and activities. What could possibly happen that wouldn't happen to any other person? If you want to indulge, do so, if not, then don't. But to have it not even as an option seems stupid.
This seems simple enough, just let them do what they would like. They are in their twilight years, and at that point, you should be able to do what makes you happy.
The bill is moving on to the house floor now, so we will see if it is approved or not. Seems like a no brainer to me.
