Minnesota DNR To Hold Seized Item Auction
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will hold a pair of public auctions, one on August 26th and October 7th, giving the public the chance to purchase confiscated hunting, fishing and trapping equipment.
The auction will be hosted by Hiller Auction Service. An early look at the items up for bid shows dozens of guns up for grabs along with some fishing and archery equipment as well.
The full bidding catalog will be available on August 22nd for the August 26th auction, while the full catalog for the October 7th auction will be posted on October 3rd.
Online bidding begins on August 23rd and an onsite inspection will be offered on August 23rd from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hiller Auction Service in Zimmerman, Minnesota.
All equipment will be sold as-is, including all defects or faults, known or unknown. Once they’ve been purchased, items cannot be returned. Background checks are required of anyone who successfully bids for a firearm.
Revenue from confiscated equipment auctions will go into the Game and Fish Fund, which is the DNR’s primary fund for delivering fish and wildlife management and law enforcement.
Hiller Auctions' website states that the state is 'paying 100% of (the) commission,' that there is no buyer's fee, but Minnesota sales tax does apply.
All items must be picked up in person at the Auction Barn in Zimmerman on August 27th between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and no shipping will be available.
All firearm buyers will be required to pass a background check before receiving any firearm, and the registered bidder must be the same person passing the background check.
