
Minnesota Seeks Community Input To Improve Biking Infrastructure
It’s not hard to recognize that a lot of people in Central Minnesota area avid bike riders. Whether it’s for exercise, to spend more time with their family, or it’s their main means of transportation, drivers have to be aware of the popularity of biking in the area.

As a matter of fact, Minnesota as a state has been listed as the fifth most biking friendly state in America according to Bike League. They calculate several factors in deciding how bike friendly an area is. Some of those factors include providing funding to offer bikers more options of places to ride safely, planning for bikes overall, and having laws in place to govern bike riders and their safety.
Minnesota is only behind Washington, Massachusetts, Oregon and California in the report on the states around the country.
The State of Minnesota takes so much interest and pride in being bicycle friendly that they will seeking insight from residents around the state for the next Bike+ System Plan. The state updated a plan in 2016 but there’s been so much growth in biking around the state, especially since the pandemic.
State Officials want to hear from residents on how they use the bikes paths and lanes around the state. One of the main points that officials want to gain input on is how what they’re calling “bike like modes” are being used.
A “bike like mode” are classified as conventional and e-foot scooters, as well as conventional and electric skateboards. These items have become so popular over the last several years and the traditional and electric bike areas are easy places for rides of the “bike like mode” vehicles to ride.

Saturday June 21st- Loop The Lake Festival Lake Shore Drive in Bemidji. 7:30am-4:00 pm
Wednesday June 25th- La Cresent Live! Outdoor Music Series at the City Green Space in La Cresent on South First Street.
Thursday July 10th- Worthington International Festival at Minnesota West Community and Technical College on College Way in Worthington. 5:30pm-9:00-pm.
